JCA INVITES VISIONARY LUNDY AND SEVEN LAYER AS PARTNERS

The Jimmy Choo Academy has invited visionary founder Lundy and SEVEN LAYER as partners in their pioneering fashion school.

Its always been the vision of Founder, Creative director and now self-taught Designer Jamie Lundy to slowly edge the brand more into the “Functional Fashion" and “Performance Lifestyle” space, rather than tread water in an already over saturated outerwear industry.

David Alarcón from Metal Magazine recently reported on 7L saying"Jamie Lundy, CEO and Creative Director of SEVEN LAYER is behind absolutely every decision made in his luxury-performance brand dedicated to creating high-quality, functional products. Decisions that, far from being made from an office disconnected from reality with the ultimate goal of increasing turnover, are the result of doing everything by himself, from concept and design to choosing fabric, Instagram, and photography, and working around twenty hours a day on his project."

Finally that hard work and vision seems to be paying off, as Lundy and his brand 7L has just been invited to partner fashion icon Jimmy Choo and his London Fashion Academy JCA in Mayfair, London. Lundy says "If your in the fashion clothing / apparel industry you'll know how many ups and downs there are. One minute your fighting for eveything you have and the next your being invited to partner with the world's elite!" Lundy says in a recent interview with Metal Magazine "Over the past 12 months, we have made some big steps to reconnect with a younger audience, and the new Kuro System is certainly more fashionable, focused, and directional."

The brands progress certainly seems to have made an impression with all at the Jimmy Choo Academy inviting Lundy and the brand to partner with them for at least the next couple of years. "When I received the email from JCA, I had to read it again to ensure they hadn't sent it to the wrong person! Haha. I'm blown away by the invite and it’s a huge compliment. I'm just excited to get started with the JC Academy, the Westminster University of London and of course the degree students. This is a dream come true for me. I have a passion for passing on knowledge and experience, especially to the younger generation.”

About JCA

JCA | London Fashion Academy is a pioneering fashion school and professional incubator founded by Prof. Jimmy Choo OBE and Mr Stephen Smith. It opened its doors in Mayfair in September 2021 to play a pivotal role in re-galvanising London’s fashion community post-pandemic and has been established as Mayfair’s international hub for all those interested in design and luxury brands. Taking inspiration from and disrupting the boundaries from the likes of the V&A, Royal College of Art, Parsons New York and Somerset House, the facility will be more than just an educational academy, providing contemporary co-working spaces for fashion start-ups, gallery and exhibition space and a calendar of networking and fashion-focused events.

JCA have invited 7L to attend London Fashion Week alongside them  (mid-september) and meet and watch the JCA MA students show off their new collections. Lundy will work with JCA over the next couple of years which will hopefully create a long term business partnership.
